Choose Your Lowlight Style
Custom Effects® gives you the ability to create your own custom look. You'll want to decide whether you want your lowlights to create a subtle, dramatic or natural look, and which style of lowlights you want: face-framing, all over, shadowing or layered.
For a dramatic look, place accents close together. Avoid placing lowlights closer than one inch apart, however, as the effect will be to darken your overall haircolor, rather than accent it.
For a subtle look, place accents farther apart.
To get a natural look, avoid applying lowlighting formula to hair right next to your part. Start accenting about a half inch from the scalp.

Prepare Lowlighting Formula

Apply Lowlights
Squeeze some formula onto the Precision Applicator. Then placing the applicator approximately one-half inch from the scalp, slowly apply formula in one continuous stroke, starting at the top of your head all the way down to the end. The formula is dripless, so it's especially easy to use the applicator to make straight, even lines. Refill the applicator with formula and apply the next lowlight line. Repeat applying lowlights until you've placed them throughout your hair, where you want them.
